Prescriptions repeat
Regular Medication Review
On 6 monthly basis we will need to update your list of prescribed medication on your medical records.
- Is the medicine list accurate?
- Do you need all the medicines?
This is known as the medication review.
Alternatively, you will receive a text, or note attached to your prescription, asking you to book a routine appointment with a Doctor before your next prescription is due.
Any alterations to your routine prescribed medication must be discussed with a Doctor, and both the clinic and your pharmacist should be made aware of these changes.
The practice policy is not to give scripts for medications that are not on your regular medication list without consulting the doctor:
You can not request
- Painkillers
- Sleeping tablets
- Antibiotics
- Cream for rash etc.
Without seeing the doctor, who has to examine you before deciding what would be best for you.
Requesting medications for somebody else: We do not accept requests made by other people for your scripts. You have to do it personally or alternatively we can issue script for you if your family member brings Request Script Form signed by you.
Telephone Advice
If you only need an advice our reception staff will usually be able to assist you.
You may be asked questions to help you receive the most appropriate advice as efficiently as possible. If you have a medical query it may be necessary to see a Doctor or Nurse.
If you must speak to a Doctor or Nurse, then please leave a clear short message, and leave your contact phone number. The Doctor or Nurse will call you back and discuss your problem or query at their earliest convenience or will pass a message to the receptionist to call you back.
This is the Practice policy not to interrupt the Doctor during Consultations with phone calls.
Arriving for your appointment
On your arrival please CHECK IN at the reception. This is important that we know that you have arrived. We pass the message to the doctor that you wait and you should be called shortly afterward. On your way out always CHECK OUT even if there is no fee to be paid. The receptionist may need to ask you to sign a form or arrange follow up appointment.
Switch off your mobile phones while on the premises . It is not acceptable to answer the phone during the consultation with the doctor or the nurse.
Waiting rooms:On our premise there are separate waiting rooms for healthy and sick people in order to prevent spread of infections and to protect vulnerable newborns and pregnant women. The receptionist will direct you to the appropriate room on your arrival.
Waiting room etiquetteMake sure that your children are supervised all the time while at waiting room and during consultation. Try to be considerate for other people waiting. You are asked not to behave too loudly as you might disturb somebody who is friable or in pain.
Aggressive and abusive behaviour toward other patients or staff of the practice will not be tolerated. You will be asked to leave if you are not complying with rules of courtesy. Any person that is drunk and behaving violently will be reported to and removed by Gardai.
